This is what I don't understand.
I can see how some people perceive "being white" means working hard and successful and not participating in the black community.What I want to know is why "acting white" is a negative thing.

As for toaster's comment, the blacks I met in college want to be successful, I don't think they go to learn how to "better act white".

Well in the case where i've used it, or had it used on me... wasn't to describe "success" or anything necessarily positive. It was more mockery then that.

It might be a person can't dance.... dance like a white person. It was never, going to get a job.... trynna provide for the faimly like a white person.

The whole "acting a color" thing is pretty ridiculous. Quite a few "gangster" black guys at my gym have stable jobs, are married, and have families. One of the guys there is a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, drives a nice car, has 3 kids with his WIFE, and is a really nice guy... he's got 4 gold teeth and looks pretty **** scary (he's huge) but I talk to him every day at the gym and he's actually quite intelligent. Some people might assume things about him since he talks a bit "ghetto" but that is because of where he grew up... it's simply how he learned to speak.

Why would the less successful group be ashamed of the more successful group?
I am ashamed of whites who go on shooting sprees, etc as I see them as a less successful group.

who said anything about the leve of successfulness? even if they were on the same level, it's noth about being Ashamed of a GROUP, but a group feeling that a member is ASHAMED of them.... get what i'm saying?
