Last August I went to a Neurosurgeon for back pain I'd been having for over a few years. Found out I have a herniated disc. At the time it wasn't severe so I just rested up and went on with my life. Over the months it progressively got worse and I started getting leg pains in my right leg. My leg would start to go numb, and eventually it got to where it felt like I had a cramp in my calf. I started physical therapy about 2 months ago for it, and it's of no help. I now cannot walk more than about 10 ft before my right leg completely tightens up like someone's squeezing the crap out of it. I can't sleep at night, and I can't do much of anything standing up. The pain lately has literally been unbearable so I started taking steroids (prescribed) for it but it doesn't help. The worst part is that my right hip now is about 2" off center. I don't know when my spine starting going crooked on me, and I'm sure it has more to do with the bulging disc in my back, but it still scares the hell out of me when I lift my shirt and see my spine curving.
I'm going back to the neurosurgeon this afternoon and I have a gut feeling I'm looking at surgery. I'm really hoping that there's some other method we can try to get me back to normal but I just don't know...
Wish me luck.
