looking to add some midbass into my system. was thinking about doing 4 8" woofers, but i got some questions about how to set it up.

how do you cross them? i know you need to bandpass them, but i have no idea how. and if anyone can suggest some loud woofers to use that would be a help. thanks

are you planning on putting them in your doors? Thats the best place for midbass woofers. 1 pair of 8's would be enough if you are going for sq. we need more info for what you are wanting. power, placement, rest of system and so forth.

well i can fit them in the doors, but will a pair really be enough? im running 8 6.5" mids and 6 supertweeters. i would have thought i would be like 4 8" woofers for midbass. but again, i have no clue so let me know, lol. hopefully looking at 200w for each, anyone suggest a midbass that will take that?

IMO you do not need 4 8"s do get great midbass and impact.

Now if you just looking to get stupid with it then sure do 4.

8" to take a look at:

HAT L8 http://www.hybrid-audio.com/legatia_individual_drivers.htm

Peerless SLS 8" http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1386

JL 8"

Dayton 8" http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-456

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-366

Eton 8" http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=128&products_id=8482

ScanSpeak http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=930

It depends on how high you need it to play. All of these have plenty of low end.

The HAT L8 will do a 2-way. The Scanspeak will do a 2-way. The JL will do a 2-way. The SLS can do it if you have a tweeter that can play low enough.

The SLS is the long time value leader.

The HAT L8, SLS and Scanspeak are considered by most to be the top of the pill. The L8 and SLS need the power 200w per driver if to get optimal performance and people have put 350w+ per driver and more.

Here is a crazy 6.5"

Have fun with your midbass search.

thanks man, think im gona go with 4 of the SLS's

next question is how do i cross them? just low pass them at say 1500 or so? do i need to subsonic them at all?
