midbass instead of comps

i was planning on removing my comps and installing midbass speakers in its place, but i was wondering, do they function as speakers that has more bass to it, or do they function as subs? meaning, do the highs come out of midbass as well? or is it just the bass?

thanks, thats what i was looking for.

now, the thing is, i have subs in the trunk, so there would be no point to midbass correct? i was planning on adding the midbass in the stock rear speaker locations. or am i getting the wrong idea of midbass and should install it in the front door locations and move the comps to the kickpanel? or would either work?

yes you will get music and words from your mid if thats what you are asking. i rolled for like 3 months with 4 mids and no tweets cause the crossover malfunctioned and fried all the tweets. sounds like a stock system with treble turned all the way down and bass turned up basically

If you are going to put them in the rear than I would suggest not putting them in. The purpose of a dedicated midabass in a system is to bring more bass up front so it sounds more realistic, such as being at a concert.

Midbass frequencies vary but I would say anywhere from around 50hz-250hz or so are the midbass frequencies. Yes I know people will argue that but it is a rough guideline.

Your best bet would be to put the midbass in properly dampened doors and your comps in the kicks.

two-way comps are usually referred to as midrange + tweets, but depending on install and speakers may or may not play low enough for strong midbass.

That is limited to install and speakers. I have heard many two-way systems that rock if you put enough time/effort/research into it and I have heard some sub par three way systems.

It will vary by car, speaker location, speakers themselves and installation abilities.

if you have components "comps" You have midbass woofer and a seperate tweeter already.

If you have Coaxials than you have a midbass woofer with a tweeter mounted in the center.

you NEED a tweeter no matter what.

if you have coaxial speakers do not replace them with mid bass woofers.
