Midbass 6x9's?

Hey guys, I have room for some 6x9's in my rear deck and am looking for just the woofer section of a 6x9 running off an amp. I don't have an amp yet so I am open to suggestions for both! I'm just looking to add some more midbass to my setup. I will be putting them in baffles so the pressure from my sub doesn't hurt/destroy them.

Either those or the 5" depth ones, depending on the depth of the woofer.

I have doubts a small foam baffle is going to do much to protect speakers in the rear deck from high pressure, and I also have doubts that the 6x9 subs I stock will sound good choked off in a little cup. What do you have for your subwoofer setup, or what are you planning to run?

American Bass XFL 12" on a Hifonics BRX1600.1d 7.85 cu. ft. kerf ported box. Yes, I understand the box is obnoxiously huge for a single 12, already gotten enough **** for it recently. Absolutely slays the lows but could use a little help in higher bass.

The only way I can recommend using 6x9s is if you're going to enclose them in something that won't flex with the bass. You could try them with the XTC baffles, but if they get damaged the warranty won't cover that.

Alright that's a risk I'll take, what do you recommend for a speaker?

CDT CL-69SubCF or HD-690CF. CL-69SubCF is 1/4" shallower, but in your application I don't think the slight differences in performance would matter since you want midbass and not sub bass from them.

Those baffles are really to protect against water. They are pretty soft and I dont think will do much for you in your application. I would go to a flea market and get those sealed 6 x 9 boxes and cut the top baffle off and fix them to the bottom of your deck. Honestly they will probably help the output because the midbass will be in an enclosure, not just free air on a rear deck. I got a set of them to play with last year for about 20 bucks. I was trying to get a 6 x 9 midbass to wedge in the front of my front seats, but the box was too big. Something like that is going to work better for you than something soft flapping around.

Yeah underneath my rear deck is a tray that holds the computer for the air ride system, the computer for the car phone, and the stock amp for the rear 6x9 woofers that came from the factory and are total junk. I don't have room to mount a large solid baffle like that. Maybe I'll just take out the old 6x9's to let the sub "breathe" into the cabin, so to speak, get some higher end door speakers, and throw an amp on them. Any recommendations for brands? I don't want to spend more than $300 total on amp and speakers, but I can probably get $60 for the Kenwood speakers I have in there right now. I need 6.5's and 6x8's for the doors, preferably coaxial. Yes, 6x8.

Throw sone good 6.5 components in the front doors on about 75w and deaden and seal your door. If you must go coaxial the id ctx and the pioneer d series are nice they are also great component sets too. And 6x8 is usless in the dooy yes you could get a 5x7 component set to fit but no 6x8 system will work right cause they dont make components that size and your mid bass will drown out your highs in a coaxial speaker

EDIT AGAIN: If I got 2 sets of these speakers, what would you recommend for an amp? Each speaker is 100W RMS so a grand total of 400W RMS.

I bought a pair of those for my Mustang install.You'll have to cut them for 6.5's iirc.

Ah, yes, for those speakers I need a cutout of 5 5/8".
