Microsoft outlines vision of pay-as-you-go computing

Charging for the various bundles may be by bundle and by duration. For example, the office bundle may be $1.00 [68 pence] per hour, the gaming bundle may be $1.25 per hour and the browsing bundle may be $0.80 per hour.
I could buy a new computer in a month just surfing this site.

I could see them trying as they plan to essentially give the PCs away, thinking that people will use them over time.

I can see a junkie signing up for one selling it for $50 for some HS kid to strip it and sell the parts.

they might try.. but they arent going to change the system.

besides some 12 year old would figure out how to hack and use them full power for free in 4 days..

To me it is.

with that old concept, you had the mainframe, and then you had the keyboard and monitor terminal. and before that, it was the mainframe and then punch cards you inserted into a slot to access the mainframe.

and unless you were privileged or were attending a university, you pretty much paid per use and for the amount of content.
