a good place to look (sometimes) is myspace music. just go to top artists and choose "metal" or "hardcore" and there are occasionally a few gems in there... but seeing as your 31 you probably don't have a myspace so disregard my previous comments!

dont know if its been mentioned , but ive always enjoyed listening to amon amarth. and ive just got into quo vadis. someone mentioned it in another thread. ****ers can play. devildriver , older mudvayne and thats all i can name off the top of my head at the moment.
