Messed up Somewhere.. might have an idea

okay, I just hooked up a little MTX Thunder 2150X to my components (CDT CL-61a).. And it didn't work.. Now my problem I posted yesterday where I forgot which were my tweeter wires and which the midbass - so I did as suggested but couldn't get a response from ANY wire from my Tweeter Out spot on my X-overs... so basically my speakers aren't responding but the amp IS powering up..

I am thinking one thing.. I had to pick up speaker wire from Home Depot but I think I actually got some 16awg while the previous wiring was done with 18awg.. I think I crimped 16awg to 18awg... could this have messed something up?

well I was pretty sure I hooked it up to the Front Pre-Outs but I guess I'll have to go back and check it out.. I was thinking that could've been it..

Maybe there bad RCAs or something? I got cheap one from home depot.. I just hope I find a simple solution without having to redo my entire wiring job

well before hooking up all wires I just turned all gains all the way down.. and hadn't played with the crossover or anything

whoa.. dont tell me if the gain is all the way down the amp is technically off..

lol that would be hilariously noob (and something I would do)

ummmm.... duh.

Set your gains using the Gain Setting Tutorial in the amp forum.

Then come back and report.

aha well thats a good thing.. its always somethin simple that gets me worryin that ive actually broken something.. i figured the gains are simply for boosting but, didn't know they were all-around power control..

I planned on using the Gain Setting tutorial at some point but the thing is I didn't want to blow a tweeter by accident (right now I have all my wires mixed up and have to figure which is for the tweeter)

okay ill probably have my prob. fixed for tomorrow..appreciate it

Did you try the battery test? Any chance you may have connected the Tweet + and say Mid- to the amp Strange things happen. Atleast if you get something with the battery you know the speaker works. And Yes, you do need the gain up a slightly unless you have 8V preouts

ok.. havent done the battery test but I actually found out which wire was for my tweeter and then wrapped tape around it for further purposes... however my equipment is still not fully working

i installed my x-over and all wires pretty much and turned the gain up a little.. but it wasn't until I turned two other buttons "On" on the amp... there was a Crossover button and a HP/LP Button... when I turned the button to Low Pass, the speakers worked

however when I got into my car and turned the speakers up a little bit, they went out ---- then I unhooked everything until I get back to testing it out maybe tomorrow
