merry christmas vs happy holidays..

when surrounded by people that only celebrate it,like here,than yes, I wouldnt say it to someone that I know doesnt

I don't understand what's wrong with saying holidays instead...it doesn't 'undermine' anything.

personally I have no problem with everyone saying christmas, but lets just be honest those 80% of americans who are 'christians' don't act like christians, nor truly recognize christmas the way it was meant to be...Almost everyone I know celebrates christmas, most would claim to be christians, maybe 20% actually even take a second to think about what christmas really is supposed to be, and maybe 5-10% actually recognize it and celebrate it as such...

My fiance's family is Indian and are Hindu but celebrate Christmas for all practical purposes as a Thankgiving + presents. We just got done with our huge dinner and are ready to open presents after midnight as per their tradition. Tomorrow, I'll do the early morning santa thing with my white side of the family.

People of all religions across the entire world recognize Christmas at least as a time of family holiday and giving regardless of the 'christian' significance.

BTW I do get them to attend the midnight service of my Methodist church as well.
