Memphis Mojo 10D4

A buddy has one of these in his pathfinder powered by a JL Audio A1800. It keeps blowing. Well the surround keeps cracking. He's on like his fifth one and his installer keeps saying it's his box.

I didnt help him with any of this and it's not equipment I would have recommended in the first place.

With that said, I'm going to build him a new box, but I cant find the tuning recommendations from Memphis for this sub.

I know tuning is pretty much up to what you like but he's adamant on having the "correct tuning."

Anyone know the frequency?

lol freq is determined by the vehicle how big is his box? and at least that mojo is warrantied and rebuildable lol

How the hell does he keep blowing that sub w/ that little power.

 

IM guessing sum ridiculously incorrect box and a ton of clipping.

i had my old mojo's in a box tuned to 35 i believe and it sounded great

but they were also 15's

Im not really sure to be honest. His box is a prefab, but its an expensive prefab so its not that bad of a box.

All I can guess is that the tuning's too low or the tunings too high on the box.

I cant hear any clipping when its playing and the shop that set it up for him competes all across the south so I doubt they setup the amp wrong.

I found the recommended specs though. 2.25@35hz. About what I told him.

BTW, these are the new mojos that are only rated at 500rms.

is his shop a memphis dealer? they should be able to call memphis and get the specs. My local shop is an authorized dealer, the head installer competition truck runs four mojo 15s getting 2kW a piece. Not a daily listener, just for SPL comps, but it pushes 154.8db mid 30s. can't remember the exact specs. But the new mojos can handle 1kW+, I don't care what they rate them. And if an authorized dealer cant figure out the specs for a box for the top product from a manufacturer they deal with, something is wrong with the shop, or he's just not letting them do their jobs.
