Memphis amp, need someone who really knows them

OK I've been told they **** and I've been told they are the best. Anyways I have one and my friend has the same one, its a Memphis 1000D, and they do get loud. I am pushing 2 kicker comp VR 10's 4ohm with it right now and it seems like it is almost maxed out. It does get about as loud as I want but I've been doing some researching and found that the amp only puts out 300W RMS x 2 at 4ohms??? I thought this amp would put out a true 1000watts RMS and found some places to say 1100W. Now would I be able to put more watts into them if I changed out the speakers to the same things but at 2ohms?? (kicker makes comp VR's at 4ohm and at 2ohm http://www.kicker.com/ShowPage.cfm?filename=compvrsub.html&menu=SUBWOOFERS ) Another question I have is, I have 4ga wire going into the amp for power and 8ga going out for a ground, which the ground is only about a foot long. Can this ruin my amp ?? And another question, if the amp can handle more speakers, what speakers should I put on it? 10" only cause thats all I can fit in my custom box. Thanx

For one, that amp does put out 1100watts at 1ohm. They are rock solid awesome amps in my opinion. And why the hell do you have 8gauge going for your ground?!?!?! that is just plain dumb, change it to 4gauge.

how should i wire my speakers where it will go down to 1 ohm?? and i have 2 dual voice coil 4ohm speakers, should i change it to 2 dual voice coil 2ohm speakers??

yeah memphis makes some great stuff, i had a 1000d that would not get hot for anything and i live in az as well so uhhh yeah

You're going to blow those 10"s running 1100watts to them... the rms rating on them is only 300 a piece, and you supposidly have them wired to 4ohms so they should be getting the recommended wattage.

well then what 10's should I get to be able to max out my amp and get it as loud as possible??? 2 speakers that can handle that much power that are 10" ???
