memphis amp help

I have a PR300.2 2 channel amp on my front stage.

One side is cutting out on the amp.

I have replaced speakers, replaced RCA's, tried different outputs from HU.

Replaced speaker wires.

and I have switched the sides around on the amp and the problem just goes to the other side of my car.

So tomorrow I am going to do a short run of wire and hook a speaker up and see for sure, but I am almost positive it's the amp.

I opened it up a couple days ago, the RCA jacks are not loose.

Basically it cuts out when i crank the volume up and after i turn it down it will cut in or out when i hit bumps in the road and what not.

It is not clipping out, I figure this because only one side cuts off.

So memphis or amp experts. I'm going to pop the cover on it again. What should I look for being loose or something.

What typically fails in this scenario?

Thanks for the help

I had a Memphis PR 75.2 replaced twice under warranty. The issue with mine was the dang transistor legs snapping off due to minimal support on the circuit board. The dang transistors were basically what was holding the circuit board in place:crazy:

So check those and maybe a resolder? This thing is definitely not under warranty.

Anyone else?

Its the PR line of memphis , what do you expect ! Cheap amps that work ..............for awhile . Ive had memphis for years and always had a problem with this line .

yea i would check for bad solder/connections on the components.
Okay thanks guys.

Now I'm not the MOST circuit board savvy, thus my reason for posting this.

By Components. You are referring to all the things on the circuit board correct? just look and "slightly wiggle" around stuff to make sure its good. maybe pull the board and make sure the solders are all solid.

Well I understand. and I bought it used, it's a older model.

It's basically gotta last me until I can get my other Eclipse amps. And I would like to be able to sell it and not for 20 bucks.

First thing I would do is check to make sure all transistor legs are in tact because that is a common problem with most Memphis Car Audio amplifiers and isn't limited to just the PR line!

Afterward, it is time to start checking individual components. The components that are hard to test are those farking micro resistors. They are also a royal beyatch to replace!

**THIS** is a good place to start! If you are having trouble with the link, go **HERE**, go over to the right, and click on number 20!

PR is great if u buy it from a dealer and get the warranty haha.
Tell me about it! I was kind of happy when mine died in the car accident where I came to a sudden stop thanks to a drunk driver. My insurance company gave me $500 for the PR 75.2 and a 10" PR sub. I think I came out ahead on that deal:D
