Definately need an alternator upgrade for either amp.

And no, with more electrical the Memphis 4K will not outperform the IA 40.1 IA 40.1 wins this easy...

Either amp needs more alternator. Go with 200 amp at least and keep all your batteries too, the amp will like it.

Also I second the question "are there even any 40.1's out there for sale?" If I had one I wouldn't sell it.

40.1 see test specs for 15v

stock alt is probably gonna fry or the amp is gonna poof on a 120 amp alt - these amps can pull several hundred amps constant.

I know it is an old thread but... I ran my IA40.1 on a solid 16V system at .35 ohms daily without a hickup for a year and a half then I sold it due to financial issues. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif . I am in the midst of repairing my Z1a and the 40.1 was a backup but I liked the way it sounded I left the DD on the shelf until now. mojo shuts down below 10v but ive been using memphis and alphsonik since 1998 no problems though only ones that fried were the st1100s and the mclass1100 and 1500s

carefull though never had to install a mojo amp or sold one
