I got the 3004 and 1000D from neverenuffbass. He is VERY reputable, when I got it from him it had that coloring too it. I used it for almost 3 years like that, I thought it was dirty or corrosion, you can see in my pic where it was mounted in my F350 it wasn't near the outside, it had about 2" clearance from tome backseat. I ran it to 4 Memphis 5by7's. The coloring on these memphis amps is weird, if there was something I could use to try and get that coloring off it I would, any suggestions?

Looks to me like the paint is wearing off of it, I would just paint the ends and you will be set.

I took the endplate off so you can see there is not a heat issue, its like Ekimdude said, you can repaint it, but you'll loose the labels, who looks at that part of the amp anyways after the install and setting?
