i use to hate people with this mentality but know mechanicall know how that why i always charged 3 diff rateschanging an o2 sensor is as easy as changing a spark plug - buy your own and install it yourself....most cars have more than one......As for the throttle sensor, its not hard either..get the book and do it yourself....Maintnence IMO is best when done DIY
having fair prices, good work, and treating everyone the way you yourself would like to be treated will earn you alot more business......but I understand where your coming from on the "base my charge on my stereotypical assumption of how much money they have", I love to charge these snooty rich asssholes more because they can afford it and deserve it ...sometimes!....but in the end youll get alot more business having good prices and good work and being fair to everyoneI replaced the o2 sensor in my 81 pontiac (350) which was in the back of the right header. Had to take the wheel and fender well out to get to it, but it was only 20 bucks. Stripped the header threads pulling the old one out as it was rusted in. Got the new one in though, hasnt fell out yet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
Whats wrong with overcharging people btw? Everyone *****es about it, but if you have the chance to get over on someone for your own better interest, why not? I bet every single person on here that complains would do the same thing. Although i do agree charging someone that much to replace two sensors is pretty up there. But when someone has no mechanical knowledge they wouldnt know the diff. When i do work for people i base my charge on my stereotypical assumption of how much money they have, i think thats fair enough. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
But dont you hate it when the diy can do it better then you lol, not to mention at a fraction of the price......I love pissing off smartass know it all mechanics!!!!!i use to hate people with this mentality but know mechanicall know how that why i always charged 3 diff rates
1 i do the work and supply parts
2 i do the work and use your parts
3 i fix what you ****ed up with your parts or replace with my parts
What year? They are about $100 each.o2 sensors sensors vary in price for everything, i had a volvo s80 tt and those are like 399 each our cost and theres 4, your lucky its that cheap. also i dont see why you think a shop should give hand outs, were here to make money. like everyone else....
LOL it will not run lean, your fuel economy is the only thing that is going to suffer, due to the engine running rich. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifand run super lean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
DUH?? How else would you recommend they make the money they need to cover lights, building, heat, gas, employees, benefits, advertising?? Sheesh. They know what you dont. People pay for knowledge.I know of a lot of shops that charge a mark up on parts. It would be the same exact part you would buy at Autozone and they run down their and pick it up, and come back and charge an extra 10% or so.
x2 its cost alot to run a garage and the mark up on parts goes to keeping the lights on.you guys are forgetting the cost involved in running a garage. all parts dont cost the same either. go to autozone and get your scanned then when you keep throwing parts at it and it doesn't fix it. quess what that mechanic is needed. your paying for knowledge my friend and its not cheap.
i meant richLOL it will not run lean, your fuel economy is the only thing that is going to suffer, due to the engine running rich. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
