Meca AS1 or AS2

I'm not sure what I should do? Maybe you all can help out? Here's the situation. I'm 29. I've been out of car audio for ten years. Here recently I put together an okay system I think. I really just want to see what it meters at. Which if I did just that. I could enter AS2 as it sits right now and just see what number I put up. But I feel pretty confident I wouldn't be competitive in this class with my current system. OR. I could put a small fuse inline and try to be competitive in AS1. Not sure what to do? My current system. I have 2 SA15's. 354 cone area. A Sundown SAZ-1500d V.3. No fuse between second battery and amp currently. (Could put a 35amp fuse in and compete in AS1). A deka 34 series batt. Big three and stock alternator in a ford ranger extended cab. I had buck design a custom 8 cube aero ported box for the truck. All 0 gauge wire. Its wangin pretty well. I guess in a nutshell. Would I be competitive in AS1 with this setup?

Thanks for any opinions. The Event is Aprill 6th in Elizabthtown kentucky..

Nah.

Also in MECA going unfused places you up into higher classes by default. If you don't have any ideas on numbers or testing with your system, I highly doubt you will be competitive in the grand scheme of things. But hey, go and have yourself a ton of fun. Who knows, you might do quite well locally and whatnot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

With a 1500 watt amplifier regardless of fuse in AS you will be in AS2 and your enclosure looks in the pic to be above the rear window line in your truck if it is above the window line u will be in modified anyway

Yeah its about six inches above the bottom window line. I thought the rule book said it just couldn't obstruct your view or something? Oh well. I just want to get it metered. Ill compete in what ever class they put me in I guess. It should be fun regardless.

In the beginning just go and learn how everything works and have fun and if you enjoy competing next time just build for a class or org.

I would put a 150 amp anl in and run modified 2 or a 60 amp and run modified 1

Nice lookin setup by the way

yeah, mod class because it's above the window line......just go out and get it metered

Like will3 said, go out and experience how everything is ran. Check out other vehicles and if you want you could always rebuild

That's what I'm going to do. We were playing around with a 60 amp agu fuse last night. It held out at full tilt for a while. So I thought I would just do a sine sweep at the comp with a 60 amp fuse. Figured this my be my best bet to get my best number since I can't do any testing with a meter before hand.

usually they'll let you test before the competition starts....the judge here does

if so run your sweep and see where you're peaking and go from there

Yeah. Thats what someone just told me when I was picking up a new battery. I also just learned that an audio shop 15 minutes from where I live has a TL. Gonna try and go tomorrow and do some testing and find my peak frequency.

Meca offers free cliniques for members at there events, you will need to get there early and get registered so you will have time , Bud Ballinger is the event director for the E town shows , I have never attended any shows he has directed so I honestly don't know how he runs his shows
