At the home depot here there is a big sign above their cutting station that says: No project cuts.

They will only cut it to fit it in your vehicle.

All Home Depots should have MDF... MDF means Medium Density Fiberboard. So whatever you were looking at is probably it. And whoever told you they can't cut it for you was being a lazey prick, you have to pay $0.50 a cut but they are able to do it. Don't let them dick you around.

thats not true....the home depot here does not carry sheets of MDF, they d have 4 x 2 sheets of it in the shelving section tho. The only store that carrys sheets of MDF here is Menards and they do not offer any sort of wood cutting. Home Depot and Lowe's here have the saws but they don't carry the wood

All three HDs I go to will cut, as long as the cut is not shorter than one foot.

LOL yah pimp, but they wouldnt cut it where we bought it, so we took it down the street. had no saws worth using to call our own, so we made do. just said we bought it earlier and came back cuz we needed it cut.

You should look around and ask the old dudes at HD. They are always brutally honest. Guy at my HD was telling me how to get everything cheaper. Told me of future sales etc..

I had HD cut a sheet in half for me to fit in my Blazer yesterday... When I got home and put a square on it it wasn't square at all. I think all of their panel saws are out of alignment.

Same here , HD doesn't carry 3/4" MDF in any way shape or form . Lowes does though , and the first two cuts are free . I usually have them cut it in half at least .
