MD Napalm's VS AQ HD3

I know the Audioque Hd3 15's sound great and work great for spl.. a competitor here in arkansas used them last season and won 1st in his class almost every show. they will deffinatly kick some serious tail so i would expect the 12s to do the same.

when u say "used them", how many of thems were you refering to exactly?

and j/w do you remember any of the scores he did?

the spl testing was done to compare each of the subs to another not to scores outside of there

the response curves are another story tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well hell I dunno u tell me what it proves.Maybe that this sub in this car with this power in this box will do this ok well i have this car this power this box etc,,
Real world scenario, real world box, real world power, real world graphical response information.

Not "WOW that dd9917z hit 177dB i gotta get me some of them so i hit 177dB too"

You see people driving extreme cars around jammin some lil john tuned to 70 some odd hz?

Or do you see people driving around in honda civics with low tuned ported boxes (or sealed boxes for that matter) bangin out krunk juice amongst other screwed music?

Real world scenarios that actually apply to the daily driver and the vast majority of the consumer market....

I'm sorry your favorite woofers couldnt be there, not our fault by anymeans. Nobody else had a problem sending in woofers for testing...

I posted this on ROE... twice.. because people don't read...

we'll see what happens here..

the numbers from this test session are not comparable to any other numbers, except for the other woofers tested in the session...

the box is very simple.. with a tuning you'll typically find for SPL geared setups.. the mic placement is on the dash, per db drag rules..

it wouldn't be anything for us to build a more suited SPL box, and turn a 150+ with any of the top woofers from the SPL burp session..

however, that would have defeated the purpose of what we were doing... and taken way too long to optimize the box, the firing direction, the seats, etc.. for every woofer

we have a 4th order design here that does a 146 with 1 RE 8, and 600 watts, in the very vehicle we used for SPL burp testing, under competition conditions... however, it wouldn't have broken a 130 under the testing guidelines we used for the test session...

2 of my favorite sub si mag and the md naplam...only heard one md but that was enough for me to fall in love. All I was sayin is not to base ur purchase of ur subs on the results from the great 12 challenge

Also there is a single 9515 hittin 170+ just to throw that out there

and why is that?

is it the end all test of subs? No

is it a good guideline? yes

your missing the point.

i dont care if there is a 9515 hitting a 170+...

can make a 6.5 and 80 watts do a 177 and some change very easily...

if your buying a particular product for a particular application then you need to base your decision on information that is similar to the situation that you are going to put the product in.

a) daily driving

b) daily driving / bass race type setup

c) one note wonder woofer install

All of which were covered by the test...its just a general guideline, not the end-all be-all.

Everybody wants to know This vs. This..so they got it, in a real world scenario.

Ah U DONT GET THE POINT I could care less. My point is dont buy a sub based JUST on this "challenge".Speacialy seein how many other great subs that are out there that werent tested.

If the subs were not there then you shouldn't be referring to the test now should you?

I dont think you see the fact that there is nothing that radically different in the industry that wasnt present for the test session that would show up and decimate all of the woofers that were there...all of them fall off of the same general basic designs...wheather you'd like to admit it or not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

DD has found something that works for them...and have stuck to the same general design for the past 6 years that i know of personally...

actually... most people do get it.... you're harping over a point that didn't need to be made... in a post that isn't about the test session... in a way that pissed me off...

so tell ya what... do a better job then we did.. or stfu.. plain and simple...

hows that for bs?

hopefully since you couldn't care less... this will be the end of it.. but I doubt it.. I see a spike in the care o' meter coming...
