I purchased 1 SSD10 from a member here and ordered another. They are dual1 subs (.75ohm per coil, dual voice coil). I have a/d/s/ 336ix in front. I have 1-a/d/s/ PQ20 amp which runs 200x2, 1-McIntosh MCC302 amp which can do 200X2 or 600x1, both amps at 4ohm only. I also have an Alphasonik PMA800DA which can do 1 ohm @ 1600w.
So, I was initially thinking of running the SSD10's from the Mc amp at 3 ohms (all coils in series) which I am sure Mc can do but would call them first to assure. But the more I think about it, I would almost rather run the 336ix's from the Mc for the cleanest sound and then run the Alphasonic at 1.5ohm load (series-parallel at about 1500w rms) until I get a better sub amp. The PQ20 would then power my rear fill and rear mid bass 8" (at 80x4).
Oh, since I am new to this sub, anyone have ideas on box size? I like my bass tight and low and these replace a/d/s/ S10 subs and are going in a VW Jetta. I also like to be able to get at my spare and would probably try the .6 size first and not go ported.
anyone?
thanks
