So I planned to get this amp for my setup since the price is amazing. But recently, I've been doing some searches for reviews on this amp and I'm not sure what to believe. People keep comparing it to the discus series but I wanna stay away from that and deal with THIS SPECIFIC AMP. What worries me is some ppl said it doesnt make the power it claims and that is gets really hot.

Does anyone have answers to those questions? Or any info or personal experience with this exact amp?

I'm interested to hear your opinions on this amp and possibly if you have suggestions for something better than can rival the price of 165$ like this is.

I mean apparently crescendo makes a 4 channel with the same numbers but for more money, 80$ more to be exactly...then add shipping. So if this amp really is that bad, I guess I can spring for that.

go to vminnovations.com and use the code: caco85 And it's 154 shipped.. I just got it and so far so good! It's pushing a pair of Dcons and it hasn't got hot once. I'll give you some more info once I use it more!

Please do! Let me know how it everything goes with it and if it heats up a lot.

Thanks for the code too.

And ppl seem to bash on maxxsonics, but they seem fine to me. Funny story though, just learned I went to school with the CEO's son. He was in my grade and surprisingly from what I remember, had no car audio equipment in his car.

The lowest frequency the ONX can play when in "LP" mode is 60Hz, which blows dog if you want to run a sub off channels 3 & 4 bridged. That's because the HP frequency knob doubles as the "subsonic filter" when in "LP" mode and the lowest the HP knob goes down to is 60Hz. That SUX!!!

Yeah, you can put in upstream filters, crossovers, etc. But running it straight from most head units means the lowest your subs can safely go is closer to the mid-bass range than subwoofer. WTF is that all about?!?!

I know OP didn't want to hear about comparisons between the ONX and Discus lines, but I can't help it. The Discus doesn't have this problem because the HP knob (a.k.a. sub-sonic filter when in "LP" mode) goes down to 10Hz. To me that's something to consider at least. I just found out the hard way last week when my ONX4.125 showed up. Now I have to change the build plan and buy a crossover to put in between the head unit and amp. Great savings huh?

I have both the ONX4.125 and DSC4.125 and the ONX is truly a POS in comparison. It feels like about half the weight of the DSC. That's probably because the exterior ("heat-sink") is very thin metal on the outside edges and mostly PLASTIC in the middle. Run at 2-ohms (stereo) for a few minutes at a decent level and smell the stink of all that plastic getting VERY HOTTT!!!

At about $160 - $170, it's still an excellent amp for the money, no doubt. I just wish I knew all that stuff before I bought this one. For this build, I probably would've gone another direction.
