Mazda Miata Subwoofer Replacement

I Have a 2001 Miata with the Bose system. My passenger side subwoofer sounds like rocks in a can at any volume.. pulled the wires to it and the other speakers are good. I have been looking for a replacement, but too many $$$ for a used subwoofer. Is there any ideas for replacing the sub without spending the cost of a whole new system. Also I have seen it is 0.5 ohm system?? Thinking a 4 ohm subwoofer and connect a .6- .75 resistor across the teminals then plug in the wires would work?

.5 ohm? if that is correct, and i dont think it is.(sounds like too low a load to me) you should look into a dual 1ohm sub, and wire it paralell, to acheive a .5 ohm final load.

you can use a dual 2 ohm subwoofer replacement and wire it to one ohm. it just wont play as loud as the other stock door sub will, of course unless you replace that one as well then it will be equal. You wont hurt the amp or anything, just wont be as effecient and not as loud....maybe not enough for you to notice anyways.
