Matt's pile of stuff # 2 thread - HU, Speakers, Subs, Amp, Enclosures

Well, this comes about with my choice to go subless in my car. This means a couple things will be leaving from the back end. As well, 8" woofers will be my goal for the front end, so something leaves from the front too. As well, I have a couple things up for sale already, so I end up with a whole lot of stuff going bye-bye. I'm just showing a pic or two for each but lots are available. A small note on pics. My host allows 1 gb of transfer per month. When it's gone, pics don't load. If all of a sudden they don't show, that's why. I've got 600mb to go for the month, but you'll be surprised how fast a dozen 50kb files can **** that up. Prices are at the bottom. Any updates/sold announcements will be on the latest posts as the original post isn't always editable after a certain amount of time. Onto the list...

HU:

JVC KD-AR8500 - This is their top end EXAD model, including User selectable EQs, 3-way active crossover, and time alignment. Unique features include their 70w x 4 (35w rms x 4) hybrid internal amp and a built in SD card reader.

All original hardware, documentation, and even the box are included.

Here's a close up shot of the HU face close up, on, and in the parametric EQ menu for adjusting frequency and Q. This was from the last day it was in my car, virtually no scratches/physical markings.

Amp:

PG Xenon X400.1 - 400w rms x 1 amp from 4ohm-1ohm. Unique to the Xenon line is a steeper 24dB/octave crossover slope unlike most amps incorporating just a 12dB/octave slope. Also unique among the Xenon line is the constant output independent upon ohm load. You can run subwoofers from 4ohm to 1ohm and still get 400w rms available.

I should have a couple pics of it when I first got the thing, but I can't find any. The amp is still in my car at the moment and will get around to removing it this weekend. I'll take fresh pics then. I think there's a small scratch or two on the top, not quite sure. It was actually mounted under the floor, so it's been pretty much isolated the entire time in the car. It's even mounted floating on rubber bushings.

Woofers:

Adire Extremis 7" (8ohm) - Most know what this woofer is, high excursion, midbass monster. npdang's review for reference:

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=664&highlight=extremis

The only pics I have of them at the moment are a couple dim ones beside the AA Poly woofers:

More can be taken once they come out of my car.

Subwoofer:

Pioneer TS-W12PRS - This is Pioneer's high end PRS sub. I know a few people want these after some recent hype. It's a very good sub with several very good properties, some including excellent low frequency extention and very high sensitivity. Here's a link to all the specs and associated modeling, and enclosure design and build:

And here's pics:

Now a couple things. First, this sub will see npdang before it sees anyone else, so whoever purchases it gets to wait. I figure I'll send it off to npdang(paid by me), and he can subsequently ship it off to whoever wants it(paid by you, well part of the cost of the sale by me). You'll pay shipping, just won't come from me. I know quite a few people want this test done, so I'm not skipping that. Second, I have the box specifically built for it. I don't need it. I would HIGHLY prefer the buyer of the sub to also get the box. Again, there will be added shipping associated and it would be shipped seperately from the sub(not sending npdang the box). The downside is you're paying for the sub and the box. The plus side is you don't have to build a box yourself, and this one is actually designed exactly for this sub. I'll leave it as optional, but I'd love to see the box go too.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Update

Sonicraft SC12NRT - This is basically your budget Aura sub, built under the Sonicraft name and using Aura's NRT motor with all it's neodymium, copper above and below, low distortion, self-shielded goodness. The cone is some form of poly base, not really sure of construction method. It reminds me more of a paper cone than plastic. The cone is very light and very rigid with zero noticeable flex if pressed down on one end. It uses Aura's NRT motor, rated at 300w rms which isn't all that high but sensitivity is pretty good allowing for decent output. Npdang apparently tested this sub quite some time ago, but it might have been pre-DIYMA as it doesn't exist on the DIYMA forum. It's more of a big box, loose sub that can play down quite low for a 12" woofer. Sound is very near transparent and natural and comes with good impact. Pics...gotta click on the links cause I'm already at the 10 pic limit.

Enclsoures:

Custom - 2.6 cu.ft. box tuned to 26Hz. This was built specifically for the Pioneer PRS sub, and the build is fully documented in the above link I provided. The box is rock solid, fully carpeted on 5 sides with just an overlay on the 6th. I am using Dean's connectors for the connection point and both ends will be included along with a good 5' strand of 14awg wire attached to the other connector end. Size is 36.5" x 18" x 10.5" external, roughtly 3 cu.ft. total.

The lag bolts and tie downs will go with the sub. The can be removed/filled/whatever as you see fit for your install. If you don't want the tie-downs, I have no problem keeping them either.

Custom - 1.5 cu.ft. box, sealed. This was the first box I build. It's a simple, sealed box built in the same fashion as my other boxes, 3/4" MDF, lots of screws, lots of glue, a full silicon bead over all internal seams. It is already heavily stuffed with a bag and a half of polyfill. Wiring is done via a small, 2" wiring cap. It's a spring loaded type and is wired inside for dual voice coil subs. Just twise + and + together and - and - together for a single voice coil sub. I'm very short on pics for this as it was built a few years ago. It has never been carpeted.

Ok pricing...

This is without shipping since many of you live all over the world. Figure about $15 within the US, about $25 to Canada, and around $45 internationally. This is for everything but the sub box which I have no clue about.

HU - JVC KD-AR8500 - $300

Amp - PG Xenon X400.1 - $120

Speakers - Adire Extremis 6.8 - $125

Subwoofer - Pioneer TS-W12PRS - $135

Subwoofer - Sonicraft SC12NRT - $135

Enclosure - Custom 2.6 cu.ft. @ 26Hz ported - $40, $50 /w tie-downs

Enclosure - Custom 1.5 cu.ft. selead - $20

Possible trades, but I'm really only looking for one thing as a possible trade and that's a pair of Peerless XLS 8" woofers, and 99.5% of you folks on here don't have it and if you did, probably aren't selling.

Replied.

Small note on the Sonicraft sub...decisions are being made. It may or may not go up for sale come tomorrow late around this time.

Update:

The Sonicraft is up for sale again. The individual interested prior decided on another route. I updated the first post to include the Sonicraft.

Some rough checking with the online postage calculators, shipping the boxes out will be in the neighborhood of $35-$40 total including associated packaging material.

I'm getting really close to my host's 1gig monthly limit, so if pics stop working, that's why. At least it'll be only about a week till they pop back up again on the 1st of Feb.

The way it's looking, by tomorrow night, host will be maxed for the month. If they don't show and you don't want to wait a few days, I can e-mail pics directly if needed.
