So because your friend has a problem, you think that EVERYONE should be banned from partaking ? Also, there might be mental addiction involved, but there's just plain NO physical addiction from weed.
Thats why I put no preference or whatever. I partake myself on a rare occasion, but thats it. Ive seen some good and some bad from it.

I'm sure serial killers say the same thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif As well as rapists, theives, child molesters, etc etc.
Sorry, but that's a pretty weak argument. "Why should you decide what's best for me?" Because that's part of the governments job; deciding what they do and don't want their public citizens doing, or how they do or don't want them behaving, and then passing laws accordingly. If you don't like it, go find a country that allows you the "liberties" you want.

But if you want to use that argument, "Why impose your wishes on my body," why stop at weed? Lets go ahead and legalize crack, heroin, Exctasy....all of them. I mean, that's us imposing our "wishes" upon their body, right?

And if serial killers want to kill, lets allow them to. I mean, who are we to decide what they can and can't do? Lets allow child molesters to run free because we shouldn't decide what is wrong or right for them to do.

Okay, let me edit my last statement to:

Why do you have the right to decide what is best for me ? Why should you impose your wishes on my mind and body - as long as I'm not hurting anyone else ?

Is that better ? Oh, and I'm pretty sure the gov't is supposed to protect it's citizens - without unduly supressing their rights.

As for your "why stop there" idea - I agree with it. People should be able to do whatever they want - as long as it hurts NOONE else. Want to do crack ? Sure, as long as your somewhere out of the public, and you don't drive (same as alcohol, basically).

So really, with one small alteration to my statement, your whole argument becomes invalid.

Have you ever seen the effects of Crack or Heroine usage? First hand? there is a reason.

Yes. I have seen them. First hand. As long as they are not hurting anyone else, let people do what they want. Doing what then want INCLUDES being stupid about themselves //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Not really. Some serial killers think that they aren't hurting anyone; they are "helping" people by releasing them from this world in which we live and sending them to a better one. So we should allow them to continue killing because they think they are helping?? I mean...."hurting someone" quickly becomes subjective. Can you "hurt" someone if they feel no pain (i.e. date **** drugs, etc)??

Theives aren't "hurting" anyone either....they are just relieving you of ownership over certain items.

So no, you didn't invalidate my argument at all......you just make me hope you never run for a public office.

If you want to span this out into "victimless" crimes; then that's territory I don't even want to enter into in this thread: Seatbelt laws, speeding, etc etc.

And how do they protect their citizens? By controlling what is/is not allowed, what acts are/are not allowed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

A conditional statement which is open to a wide array of interpretation is a horrible justification for legalizing drugs.

Squeak, **** and theft is still "hurting" someone... Your just being stupid.

Gauntlet - Isn't my statement what legalization is all about ? (not talking for cancer patients only, I mean for everyone (of age)).

Why is alcohol legal, then?

It's a factor in car wrecks, liver and other diseases, ruined families/relationships...but we can't outlaw it successfully without leading to a breakdown of society.

I'd like to see some reasons for that...

Yes, I agree. And weed hurts others.... how ? So they are prohibiting something based on ???

Because government knows best //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and Oswald really was alone...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

has anyone mentioned the Nixon-commissioned Shaffer report on this? If not, a link to that would be enlightening...

I guess. I don't really care if pot is legalized or not, although it never will be, but I definitely don't want heroin and cocaine and such to be legalized.

i think i should conduct and experiment to see if marijuana has a physical addiction... i will do so by smoking a half ounce a day for a month and then stop...all i need is funding for this experiment...anyone else care to partake?

ha.ha.... while I get the joke, it's been proven many times over that MJ does NOT cause physical addiction. That's a fact.

yeah...i am a member of the overgrow forums, and its amazing how many people are misinformed about marijuana.

Thats a link to a forum on overgrow.....tons of facts about the misconceptions of Marijuana. I can tell you this, i smoke weed everyday, and it has helped my life. Well, its ****ed up a few things, like my wallet, but in general, its the only thing every to cure my sleep problems.....

anyone who says 'dont smoke pot' and drinks alcohol should re-evaluate their standpoint. They are both drugs. Anyone who takes tylenol should do the same.

Legalization and control of drugs like heroin and cocaine would take a huge bite out of organized crime and drug traffic. Also, it would allow the government to regulate it, and also encourage them to create safe injection sites etc.
