man turns down $5 billion fortune because he was molested

one point you are missing is that it said the uranium is worth 5 billion, not that they offered him five billion.
There is a vast difference between the two statements.
makes no difference, even if he was offered $2.5 billion, the company would still most likely have a 100% profit return

for all they know theres $5 billion of the metal in there, it could go down up to a mile and turn out to be the largest deposit ever

i doubt that you know anything about the projected cost of extracting, processing and distributing the material. Hence, you can't expect anyone to take you serious when you make claims about what they actually offered him.

he should sell so our greedy suits can ravage the place - money is great

but not everyones life revolves around it -props for not selling out like a typical

greedy american would have

I am not saying i would make the same decision; nonetheless, good for him.
Agreed

he probally already has plenty of money...and 5 billion is like pocket change to him....
Actually - he probably doesn't have a dime to his name. However, to most traditionalist Aboriginals money is of no great import to them. It is basically meaningless when compared to the manner in which they are raised. Everything a person could physically need can be sourced from Mother Earth. Anything else is extraneous and unnecessary.

the guy is a ****ing moron, his "spiritual" land is nothing more than a rocky god forsaken desert!
he has no wife, children, and is the last one of his clan, atleast if he got the money he could buy new spiritual land and mayby a wife or two, then build one of those $500+ million super mansions like in dubai
Who's the moron, here? You cannot "buy" spiritual land. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

wait...they are just asking his permission to drill there right?
He doesn't actually own it or have a title to it?

Its getting drilled into by the end of next week.
Not bloody likely - the Aboriginal Rights Movement is an incredibly powerful force within Australia and one that John Howard's (the Prime Minister) government isn't going to be terribly hurried to anger by allowing drilling on protected, sacred land holdings...

its good for him that he is doing what he wants to do but the sad part is that the second he dies whoever inherits the land is going to sell it.

why not just sell a section of it? just let them mine like 10 million dollars worth lol

he has no wife, children, and is the last one of his clan,

They're can be only one!

Good for him, that man deserves an ungodly amout of respect. To turn down $5,000,000,000 (that is $5 billion, right?) for something you're proud of and take pride in, that takes a lot of something most people don't have at all.

Most people that you're familiar with, maybe...

The truth is that pretty much any traditionalist Aboriginal in the same situation would have done the same thing.
