Making a Beefy *** 8?

Ok, I understand this would probably rip the cone, but if you took say a DC Level 6 motor and made it into an 8" woofer, would you have a problem waiting to happen, or a godly 8"?

never happen the lvl 6 is a 4 inch coil ,just too hard to get everything to work and assemble it

why do all you guys think you're coming up with a idea that new. you don't think that companies have tried to make monster 8" subs. it's pretty well know that 2" coils is as good as it gets with 8s. look at Skar VVX8 it's pretty stout or even better the Sundown SA-8, they have a couple others but that's about it. your idea is like putting a V12 on a go kart, mechanically it just wont work.

I don't even think the 8" basket would mount to an enclosure without a mounting ring if using a lvl 6 motor. lol It is usually because the wider coils don't allow much space for a spider and the spider enables/controls excursion (as well as the surround) so minimizing spider area decreases usable excursion, rendering the woofer kinda lame.
