Mags

Wow thnxs for all ur inputs. Reason Im asking is cause I jumped on the ban wagon and bought a MD2 from Flakko. And now Im having second thoughts on if a single 12 can hadle 1500+ watts. What do you all think? I already ran this my Showrides and he said its overkill for one 12. So Now I think imah resort to a dual 4 ohm MAG and have it wired to 2 ohms and get around 1000 watts. Sounds good? Its just good to have some extra juice on tap U know? LoL. Well lemme know everyone! thnxs.
No such animal as a dual 4 ohm mag as far as I know...

I mean if you wired it to 1 ohm and set your gains correctly then you should be ok. 1500wrms is a little much however back the gain down some and you should be ok. Use a DMM to set your gains around 1000wrms and call it a day...My 15" mag took 1200+wrms like a champ and never complained one bit.

Keep the gains set down a touch from full output and you'll be fine. Do the math ahead of time and figure out what you need to see on your DMM to get 1000 watts. Then simply set your gain with that number in mind and BAM, you've got a solid amount of power for one 12" Mag.

Yeah im used to doing that with my other systems but my question is. Most of the time you take the Sqrt(Power*Resistance) = Voltage, and the "power" part is the output RMS at which U plan on wiring your sub. But the MD2 puts out like 1500rms @ 1ohm so that would be 38.72v. How do I get the voltage for 1000watts? do I just substitute the 1500 with 1000? then it would be 31.62v. This is what im guessing? AM i correct? Help me everyone!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

There are some mags on Hawaii right now;)

Maybe if you get lucky you will run into someone with them, and then you will be able to give them a good listen.

i sure hope so since i'm on the same island as the threadstarter. i'm also contemplating bout getting this sub for awhile since i've heard nothing but stellar things about it & bigbassman (sp?) likes it alot also.
