Mag d2 vs avalanche

As I can see, this forum keeps to the same childish immature banter. Guess you guys like living in the dark still. Go ahead and pay absurd amounts of $$ on a sub that is at par (and I am being generous) with the AA Avy...

You are entitled to your opinion. But, as far as I see it, the childish stuff was started when you posted interforum babble. Also, the original poster of that is entitled to his opinion as well.

I do find it funny when people question a driver without any experience with it or how it is designed and/or built. Did you design or build the driver? Nope, so I don't think you can rightfully comment on it.

Even if in fact the driver is overpriced, overhyped, and underbuilt, those who like it, like it. That's all that matters.

Everyone's an "expert."

Jdizzle the Atlas 15 will get loud in your truck ported in a blow-thru... and if you want louder hey you can always upgrade to something bigger later ya know.

You will NOT be disappointed with the Atlas in anyway except for maybe output which then if you are you should spring for the avalanche. The Atlas is a great way to spend ~$150 or so ;P

AzGrower why don't you ask your guy how he feels about an $800 12w7 ;P.

I appreciate your post, thank you. you are correct. You seem to be one of the few on here who know how to actually type a non ignorant reply.

I know what you mean about things being said as overpriced, overhyped, and underbuilt (using older technology). Many I know state that about my Dynaudio speakers. And I like the sound dynamics and reproduction they have, its a true sound. BUT I am also a very open minded person, who understands that there are better options out there, be it better price point speakers or just in general better quality. That is why I ordered a set of the Seas CA18rnx midbass drivers, to test agains the Dyns. BTW, just as a point of reference, the Dyn mw160s run $275 EACH, whereas the Seas CA18s run $60 each. I am hoping to get to use an o-scope to see the breakup zones on each, they will be in slightly off axis locations. Then I can see things that my ears cant hear. The o-scope is a non-subjective or opinionated data source.

I got my atlas 15 going at 400 watts, and I dont think I could be happier. BTW 137 is the number I hit in a db drag, which is pretty good with only 400 watts in a sealed box.

Well I have the new mag. You can't judge a sub strictly by it's specs at least that's what I've heard over and over. Different companies measure their specs differently some may underestimates specs etc. I'm currently breaking in the sub. At this point a single sealed 15" sounds like it is going to blow my current 2 10" setup away in sq and spl.

jntar on our forum recently got his Mag 12 metered at a 136.7 off of 300 watts in about 1 cube sealed. Josh needs to build a new box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif and crank that puppy! If you like it in the tiny box it's in now, just wait until you get it in around 2.5 cubes sealed.

The scary part is the current box is tiny! It's has to be under 1.5 cubic ft.

I know it's pretty crazy. It's gone through around 1 hr. of break in at lower volumes and it seems to have more range than my 10's. And it reproduces low piano notes much better. My previous setup would struggle to play the lows and you could hear that the sub was have to lose it's accuracy when playing the lower notes. But this 15" has no problems. If this is any indication of how it will sound once I turn it up, wow!

I'll be building a box this weekend. Just bought the wood tonight. It's almost like my mids and highs blend better with the 15" than my previous 10's.

I had to try out stereo integrity, especially after the incident with the break in. I'll probably never buy another sub from a store because I want to see these online companies like stereo integrity, incriminator audio, sound splinter, RE audio and Elemental Designs (yes them two), make it. Customer service from my experience with the online companies is better than I had with store brands.

i might just do 4 15s in a walkthru now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
It would take one hell of a large blowthru to be big enough to walkthru. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Since when do you pay MSRP for a product?

The new mag was FEA'd specific for the preformance that they were wanting to achieve...

I don't see what your problem with SI is...they don't even produce the componets any longer...

Cudos for you being able to get other drivers with different technology....i can too!

I run what i run for a reason...and it is not blindly either.

well its basically gonna be a wall, but im takin the whole back wall out, back glass everything and puttin a fiberglass camper shell on it, should be pretty straight, i've been lookin for recomended box specs for it all day n cant really find one, i want it to be tuned to like 36hz but i dunno how big the box is gonna be and i cant start determining port area till i know what size box im gonna use

That is no way near all she had for 300 watts either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I just didnt want to push it since it was still in the break in period. 140 would be easily achieveable sealed with
