Buddy of mine is looking at putting 4 10's in his car. I came across Mach 5 IXL

Recommended Box Size 0.4 cubes tuned to 30hz??? That is a tiny *** box.

Are these any good? Will this bad boys hit the lows? Would I have better luck with some DC Level 3's or Sundown SA's?

Never heard them myself, but many others say the Ixl's are really good on the lows

I got an older single 10" IXL in the girlfriend's mustang on 1500 watts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif They don't require a big box at all but for lows, I'd make it a little bigger. Your response would be smoother too.

What size box you thinking? I thought it was a typo when I read .4 cubes tuned at 30hz.

It is wierd that the ported sub requires less airspace than the sealed. It may be a typo. Give them an E-mail and ask. Mark is really helpful.

I think it is a typo lol. Here is what was recommended for my version of the IXL.

Recommended Box Sizes

* Sealed: car installations - 17 litres (0.6 cu. ft.); home installations - 19.8 litres (0.7 cu. ft.)

* Ported: car installations - 22.7 litres (0.8 cu. ft.) 36hz tuning; home installations - 28.3 litres (1 cu. ft.) 32hz tuning

I'd give the IXLs a try...Mach5 makes some nice woofers. and since they have a version suited for ported and one suited for sealed that 0.4cu.ft might not be a typo at all. Mark has a forum on CACO, you could ask over there.

I have four twelves on an aq 3500 at half an ohm and they get really low even compared to my old setup of four fifteens. I love the ixl there awesome for the money. only problem ive had was I popped one dust cap off but all it took was reglue

Anything under 0.9 cubes is fine, but remember you will begin to lose output the larger you go.

Yes, the SL version requires a larger box to keep a sufficient box Qt.
