Mac vs PC?

The stability of OSX is coming from it being UNIX based. I used UNIX constantly at a prior job, not pretty to look at, but never failed or crashed.
I will have to disagree. OSX and UNIX get their stability from not being a target and not having ever tom dick and harry writing apps/utilities/etc for it. UNIX is used primarily in enterprise situations. If someone writes something for UNIX that causes instability, then they won't have a job very long. The commercial market is a lot more lenient and gullible/dimwitted. Poorly coded software can cripple ANY OS and any OS can be exploited.

I have XP, Vista, and OSX - Leopard. I prefer XP, then Vista, then OSX. I don't like the Mac too much. It is basically what they give you with limited customization. Sure, its pretty, but that's about it.

You can say you don't need an AV with Mac but I dont run AV with Windows. I know what not to do, unlike 95% of Windows users. If you are willing to open any files and/or attachment then you deserve what you get heh.

Very true. I am just saying from my experience both owning and working with OSX and Unix machines. From my usage, stand alone UNIX and OSX boxes crash less then Xp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wrong. Vista on a solid Dell is indestructible.
LOLs to the nth degree.

YOU more than likely know what to do and what not to do though. Hardly the wide demographic of the ever increasing Windows user base //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif My buddy has many times more problems with his Mac than with his dell. So usage is so variable. It depends on the softwares installed, hardware, user. All in all I believe OSes are pretty even in base stability. It's when everything else is introduced. Windows has more that can be introduced to it.

Well I learned from the old govt. war horses. So command line is natural for me, same goes for many CAD programs.

I learned from using them at an early age as hobby. They have always interested me. Every year I lose more interest though. They are too commercial and user friendly to be a challenge anymore like my Vic20, commie, and TRS machines. Of course I have never really used them in an enterprise situation. Only dabbled for exploration. I even had more fun with Linux in it's underground infancy than I do now. The challenge was fun. Now you load an ubuntu disk and it can have most machines working just like XP or OSX will. Yet it is so easy, that the clueless can **** em up even quicker than ever.

All of mine were SGI's (siclicon graphics). Man that just dated me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
I didn't have money to play with that shit lol. Of course your experience cam from a job that paid for that shit. I only read about that shit.
