M1b Clipping, how to stop it?

just got my m1b hooked up to my 2512, on my bass controller it has a clipping light. if i try to get any good amount of bass out of my sub then the clipping light starts flashing on the good hits. but if i keep it turned down its good. is there anything i can do to keep the clipping from occuring?

This is my first real car audio setup. before this i has a Type-R and Type-X on a kicker ix2302 and that bumped way harder than this is and neither one fried. am i just too worried about smoking the 2512? i realize i had more cone area there but when i turn this up for a little bit and the clipping light stays on the 2512 it wastes them.

What sort of electrical upgrades do u have?....do u have a good battery or the big 3 one? What size is your power wire for the amps?

What do u have ur gains set too ad what about ur bass ettings on the amp?

hate that dang light

big 3 was done yesterday in 4g tsunami. i have a cra ppy battery but im looking into a new one not sure what to get. i have monster cable 4g from the battery to the amp, and 6g for the ground, 8g going to the sub. gain is set very low as the 2512 is brand new and im still breaking it in. and bass boost on the amp is also low. i checked how much juice i was getting at the amp and i think my alt may be going out as i was only getting 12.8 with no music and it was dropping to 11.8 with big hits.

well then situate yourself before you blow stuff up

lite clipping won't hurt and is normal on low notes...you just dont want heavy clipping with near solid or continuous flash light...you'll notice on some songs like older rock or country with little bass you'll be able to turn the gain wide open without clipping...but with heavy bass...like in rap or techno you may have to turn the gain nearly off to cut down on clipping.....

i have some 4g around should i switch to that.

My readings are with the car on.

i know and thats what im trying to do. id rather not fry this beautiful DD gear.

I was thinking about putting a Yellow top in front and getting another battery for the back but im not sure what to get. id like to stick with the 4g from battery to amp cause if i go any bigger it wont fit where i have it hidden.

Ur power wire is too small period.....run 0 gauge from the batt to the back them have that branch into 4 gauge...also use lrger wire for your ground and for the big 3

What's the car and what howbig is ur alternator

12.8 at idle is kinda low. should be at least 13.2 or more.

You ALWAYS need to keep the power and grounds the same size going to your amps. Like CRX said, the clipping light just flickering should be just fine.

It takes a lot of amp power to create the heavy and loud bass notes.

Use the largest guage wire that your amp will accept.

the m1b only will take 4g and 8g for the sub. the car is the one in my sig a GrandPrix GT with a 3800 V6 its all stock except for the big 3

yeah i know the running output is very low thats why i believe i need a new alt. its a stock alt i dunno how many amps it is.
