Hey guys,

I set my gain on my alpine mrp-m500 amp with my loudness off, eq on flat, bass boosters on the HU/amp both off, HPF on 125hz, LPF at 100hz, and SRC-LV adjust at 4. I am running a single 12" alpine type r sub.

So my question is, can i safely turn on the super bass eq and loudness when listening to music? It makes the subs alot louder. I am asking this because i have always heard not to use the bass boosters, but wasnt sure about those other settings.

thanks

yea you should leave the superbass and loudness off. They are mostly meant for a stock system to get that extra bump. But if you're going with quality, you should let the amp do the work, instead of the head-unit. The loudness feature was made to sound better for low volume only. I know it sounds better but it'll burn out your voice coils sooner or later. If you want more bass, just turn your gains up a little.

Maybe invest in a ported box? It'll make the sub more efficient and louder without using too much wattage.
