Loud pops are never good, right???

Here's my dilemma... I just bought a dash kit (Metra, of course) with what I thought was a full DIN opening on top of a 1/2 DIN opening so I could put my cd player and eq in the dash without duct taping them together or something. It turned out to be the wrong kit and as I was re-installing the cd player (Alpine 7977) to go back and get the right kit, I heard a loud @ss pop through my speakers, and the HU went dead. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/scared.gif.f134e57c6c93ccd0f15aa5ac32c7d4a0.gif

I checked all the wiring, all the fuses, pressed the reset button on the HU numerous times, and basically went through all the troubleshooting that I can think of, but as is the reason that i'm posting here, the HU still won't come on. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Anybody have any ideas as to what might've happened, or have any ideas of other stuff to try? It is kinda dark out, so I might've looked over something, but I checked each connection in the power, ground, and remote wires (just in case) at least 3 times, and they're all still solid. I do have my power and ground hooked into the stock harness of my car (screw Alpines recommendations); could I have blown one of the cars fuses?

Any help at all is greatly appreciated, because this is my only HU, and driving without tunes sucks...

Wow, i'm an idiot. The "map" of which fuses do what is somewhat cryptic in it's labeling, and I checked out the wrong fuse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

I finally found the right fuse for my interior lights too, which haven't worked for over a year, but now they won't turn off.... thank god my extended warranty isn't up yet.
