lookin for good components

Output will be limited by two things, excursion and thermal power handling. Excursion will be your main limitation. The lack of said excursion means you're forced to cross higher so you don't keep bottoming out the woofer(or tweeter).

I will tell you right now that NO, I mean NO 6.5" woofer will be able to keep up with a pair of decent excursion subs. Heck, a single 12" of mild excursion in a ported enclosure will overpower anything you can buy that's 6.5" or lower. You'd have to start looking at 8" or 10" dedicated midbasses just to match the capable output of a single 12", or cross quite high(think towards 150Hz).

My take, stick to some decent excursion. Since the Adire Extremis is no more, you might want to head over to Creative Sound Solutions and look at their new SDX7. Then pair it to a tweeter that can get down to 2kHz cause you'll probably need it. I can't find specific frequency response graphs for it though, so I don't know how well it does up top. You might consider pairing it with a 2" or even 3" full range driver. The Aura "whisper" is a well liked 2" mid that can be used as a tweeter replacement but offer better low end usability and overall output. The same goes for TangBand's 3" full range drivers. The Bamboo and Titanium coned mids extend up high nicely. The larger format high range will also allow higher overall output and flexability in the x-over point.

I'd have to disagree with you there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's all in the install. I've heard a pair of 5.25's go low enough that subs weren't needed in the first place. And just because a 12" can overpower a front stage, doesn't mean it should.

Seas CA18RNX

Vifa XT25

JIMJ, where do i go to get a crossover for these two speakers? the seas is the paper cone and the vifa is the tweeter, how can i find these to buy online and get specs on the size? who makes the xover?

what is GOING ACTIVE?? all of you always say it it confuses me.. What is going active?
It simply means taking out the passive crossovers and replacing them with an electronic one - either built into the head unit itself or as an external unit. You'll see a lot of head units marketed as "3-way active capable"...that's what they mean. For a basic tweeter & midbass combo, you need four channels of amplification as well, one pair for the tweets and the other pair for the midbasses.

Those drivers sound fine.

As for an active Xover, Coustic, Audiocontrol and others make decent outboard units...or you could upgrade your head unit to one that's got one built in. I personally like having the control right up front, so you aren't fiddling around with an external one and trying to hear the difference up front.
