Look What I got for FREE Today!

Yea, they are still in good shape. They still have the cardboard that your talking about. where the wires connect. It's cardboard like stuff that is in good condition still.

They look great. There's only ONE minor problem. you guys tell me this. He said they were installed by a "professional" but the guy actually GLUED the Sub's both onto the box, then screwed through the glue and into the box. I understand the idea of that. as it will be a tighter and better seal. but that just seems stupid to me. you can't take them out for adjustments, you can't reuse the box. Anything like that. So both of the JL subs have wood Glue'd around the outside of them. but I'm alerady cleaned one all off. and got most the glue off. So it looks pretty good. Other than the glue, they are in almost perfect condition. they've been boxed for a while and don't Show ANY sign of there Age. Only the scratches from me removing the glue.

Do "Professionals" glue the sub's into boxes?? or did they about 4 years ago. My first system back in High school I didn't glue into the box. So I'm confused there. Was the installer just retarded. or is that just a style that some people use?

and I'm probably keeping the extra 12w6 for either my boat, or my El Camino. I have 2 Rockford Fosgate 12inch PUNCH in my boat, they sound ok. but could be better.

I don't know what amp I'll use for the single 12w6 in my truck though. I need to decide soon.

Ya, the gluing it to the box is a little weird. but I've got it almost all clean and stuff now. I'm about to have christmas Dinner, I'll take some photo's of everything I got after. including some close-up's of the MB Quartz and stuff.

cool. and I might want the sony 1200w 500RMS Amp.. is it the big square Xplode Model?

I'll have to take the photo's tomorrow after work. cool? yes I work on christmas. sadly.

Anyways I'm still trying to decide on what Amp I'll use to power my Sub. I think I wanna just install a single 12w6 into my truck. and see how that does. but leave a little room for improvement. would something like the Rockford Fosgate P500-2 work out ok.

I know some about stereo's and all, but I'm by no means a smart person with all the depth and info on car audio. Basically I want to run my single JL 12w6 sub that is a 300w RMS sub, and have a little more power so if I upgrade in the future I'd be ok.

I'm open to any idea's. but I'm trying to not go over $250 on my amp. the lower the better, I want something that will be half decent also.

Any suggestions are welcome!

The w6 is a SQ woofer. It's probably not going to get louder than your T1, but it's going to sound **** good. I'd use the other one in a home setup!

If you just want as cheap as possible, that Sony would work. Hifonics is another good budget brand to look at. What's the voice coil configuration on those?

And yes, gluing subs onto a box isn't exactly good form. Merry Christmas!

well the w6s are all dual 6ohm subs so you'll have to find an amp that is stable at 3ohm. if you buy that amp and bridge it at 4ohms, you might run into some problems...

Ya, thanks for the info here guys. I know enough to get my setup going and all, but not all the fine details and such..

Yea I was wondering how it would compare to the T1. so your saying it wont be quite as loud, and might not hit as hard. but it will be close, but sound really good. Perfect. thats exactly what I want. I don't need as much pounding as the T1 was. it was nice, but I don't need it.

So I'm going to need to get a amp thats stable at 3 ohms.. What type of problems would I run into if I bridged one down to 4 ohm's like you said.. what problems?

What about 2 ohms as well. or would the next down be 1.5 technically. lol. The main area's I'm not to good in are the Ohm's differences. I understand sort of how they all work though. my T1 was the 4 ohm one.

So would that Sony work, or no? cuz it wont be stable at 3 ohm?

Can anyone recommend me a Amp thats 3 ohm stable?

MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS!

Oh, I'm sure I will like them plenty.

My brother has the new version 12w3 and it sounds great. I'm exited to hear these things. So what problems would I run into running at 4 ohms?

Update with Pictures for anyone that wanted to see them.

Also those that are interested in the MB Quart, or the Kicker Impulse 5x7's let me know if you want any other pics.

Here's the two JL 12w6 subs and the Phoenix Gold Amp.

Subs Again

The MB Quart Tweeter & Speakers. (I have 2 sets)

The Kicker Impulse 570i 5x7 Speakers

Here's the actual Amp also.

Not bad huh guys, let me know what you all think. if anyone interested about any part PM me.

Thanks!

the amp might overheat/go into protect running it at 3ohm instead of 4...

find an amp that makes enough power at 2 ohm...

Question, for a JL Audio 12w6 Sub. what would be the best box for me. Should I put it in a Single 12" Ported Enclosure, or should I throw it in a Sealed Enclosure? What does everyone think. What would sound best. the sealed would sound cleaner right, yet the ported would be louder? is that the difference. Could someone please give me there thoughs on that. What would be best for the JL 12w6. I'm installing it tomorrow and need to get a box in the morning.

Also I got a great deal on the Polk Audio PA600.1 amp. It's $399.99 at crutchfield. and around $320 or more at most places. I got it brand new for $198.00 cuz a friend works at frys electronics.

Pretty sure that will power a single JL 12w6 perfectly. as it's 400w RMS x1 at 2ohm and it's 600w RMS x1 at 1ohm.

So what box should I get?

don't be angry.. be happy for me, afterall i did get everything stolen.. so this was just evening it out.. or a good x-mas present. lol
