Longdistance relationship (1 hr drive)

my gf lives an hour away....we met 2 years ago and have been dating since....we've had our problems but nothing serious....she was 15 i was 17 when we met... i would go down and see her some nights and have to get up at 5-6am just to be at school on time....now we're engaged and couldn't be happier....soon we'll be looking for a place of our own(in a few months when she turns 18)

just thought i'd chime in....an hour isn't anything at all

I spent the first 4 months I was married on the other side of the country from my wife as well as most of the engagement. 1hr? Long distance? Whatever. Try 4 mos to a year in a war zone like some of us in here have done. You're lucky to even be able to call!

Now that I'm home, I've got an even worse setup, honestly. I work a really wierd schedule and shee works a lot, so we live in the same house and still manage to hardly ever see each other.

Thing is 1 hour might be long distance to certain individuals to where it wouldnt be for other people. To me over an hour to someone's pad is long distance. I have done it before and wouldnt do it again. Our times were different for work and I would see her maybe 1 day a week and 1 day on the weekend. So 2 days wasnt enough for me and same for her. It just didnt work out. I give you guys all the credit in the world for making stuff work out when you live so far away. I know I couldnt do it.

Im ~4 hours from my GF....its hard. But its ok. yeah but so far....Prowla has all of us beat...~9500 miles or so from him to his wife. talk about hard

i was about 2-3 hrs from my gf a year ago. i'd drive to her place like 3 times a week to see her. but i put WAY too much effort into that relationship when all she really wanted was attention from multiple guys and to get them to buy things. the things that she let happen in front of me was fuked up. it screwed me up emotionally pretty bad. my whole personality changed because of her (for the worst). she didn't wanna try. i did.

but, 1 hr isn't jack shit dude. you can definately make that work. just drive up there, and surprise her when you can. leave notes/letters/etc for her to let her know you wanted to see her tho she wasn't there. just the little things. everything will work out. and do not second-guess yourself or think negatively/doubt her/yourself.

Go for it.It'll get a little better when you need to hear her voice and you'll be able to call her.

Been there, done that - if you love her and she loves you, knock the negative thoughts out of your head right now ... you'll be fine.

An hour drive is nothing - try being Prowler (USA vs Australia ...).

Thats good to hear...Ill be four hours away from my GF in less than a month...Prowler needs to chime in...

Regardless of anyone else's opinion of whether or not being an hour away is a LDR or not the ONLY way it will work is if two components are present and inarguable:1) You love each other without question and without fail.

2) You trust each other without question and without fail. (which, to tell the truth, #2 is an inseparable part of #1 being true....without trust there is no else ~ /story)

A 75-minute drive is NOT a long-distance relationship ... Sorry to break it to you ...
Now, a 3-hour drive, plane trip, ferry trip, etc., something that would cost a lot of money and take up a significant portion of your day, that would be a long-distance relationship ...

Quick breakdown of my average trip from start to finish:

Home to DFW = 45 minutes

DFW to LAX = 3 hours

LAX to Sydney International = 14 hours+

Sydney International to Adelaide = 2.5 hours

Now that is only time in flight and doesn't include time spent in various airports swithing terminals from the local to the international side, fighting the good fight through customs in more than one country, layovers between flights, etc etc etc. Makes for quite the...interesting day sometimes.

Still not long distance. A commited person that really wants to see a girl can do it. Forget an hour away, I wanna see the mapquest mileage, then Ill decide. As the crow flies it is 9517 miles (15,227+ kilometers) from my house to my wife's house. Unfortunately plane routes do not follow the route your average crow would take were they to take a notion to vacation Down Under anywhere near my wife's place ;(

Same here, I was cheated on without even having the slighest clue untill I got mad one day, she literlay rubbed it in my face. Talk about fukin something up.

Soon enough you'll meet someone and be yourself again.

I'm single. So I don't have to worry about any of that pity paty bullshit. Plus I'm off to college in 2 weeks. I'd rather meet someone here though.
