Local shops are worthless!!!

This. I bought 10' of 8 awg wire at the local shop yesterday. $1 per foot. The price was retarded, but who wants to wait 4 days for 10' of wire?

True but at the same time its kind of retarded. 2 years ago, needed a new 16 pin wiring harness for my Pioneer 6000UB HU, local shop wanted $35, for a wiring harness. Went on ebay and found a replacement for $10, just had to be a little paitent.

Its crazy how overprice some of these shops are, and the sad thing is years ago, I use to shop there regularly.

With shipping you probably wouldn't have saved much anyways. and If you're not a douche bag shops won't treat you like one. My local shop knows that I will never buy subs or amps from them but when I come in to grab 10 feet of wire or some RCAs they still treat well cus I don't baulk at their prices. Your post basically shows you have no sense of what it takes to run a business. They have overhead to pay for and don't sell near the number of units as internet stores.

I really don't understand how my post has anything to do with my business knowledge. I was agreeing with what you said, and I related to it by telling about buying some wire yesterday. I didn't make any snide remarks to the owner or anything like that. In fact, I like the guy and have nice conversations with him every time I go into the place. We even walk out into his install bay and look at the projects he's doing, then he comes out into the parking lot and takes a look at my current project. I consider the guy a friend.

Wow, this is the problem with American Jobs. All y'all want to buy stuff at cost but want to make more than minimum wage. Ever wondered why you don't get a raise? it's b/c too many clowns like you get your products through the backdoor. Ever wondered why an audio shop treats it's customers like $Hit, it's b/c clowns like you that don't pay retail go and complain that everything cost too much. if everyone paid retail for products, working in retail would actually pay good and more "mom and pop" stores would prosper. You think the audio shop is bad now, wait a couple more years when they become extinct and Walmart and Best Buy are the only places that sell car audio besides online stores. Not sure what you do for a living but if you work selling something, imagine what you would make if all the products were sold at cost.

This is why a lot of shops are closing. But hey, this is capitalism. Either keep up with the times or fail.

they probably laughed at you laughing b/c I'm sure they probabl sell double digits of them a month....some shops even a week! Local shops and their prices aren't for us/everyone but there are plenty of people who will pay it simply b/c they "don't know any better"!

Technically if you buy a product that Sonic Electronix isn't an authorized reseller that is more shady than a local shop. Shops mark up is the same as any other brick and mortar company. You can buy pretty much anything cheaper on the internet not just audio. But do you buy EVERYTHING you own from the internet I highly doubt it.

alot of companies honor warranties longer if purchased/installed through a local shop too. In some cases its a 90 day vs 2 yr warranty.

You can buy pretty much anything cheaper on the internet not just audio. But do you buy EVERYTHING you own from the internet I highly doubt it.

Sonic honors their warranties just as good as a shop. I buy a lot of my stuff online because it is so much cheaper.

How in the hell do you expect a shop to make a living. You gotta understand all the overhead... Cost to rent the building, employees.... etc.

Plus, huge online retailers buy in bulk, that means they can afford to sell at a cheaper price. Local stores cannot.
