What's up guys, I'm Kam311. I'm new to this forum but very familiar with some others. I joined this forum from a recommendation by csstang_customs, idk what he goes buy on here but it's always been similar. Anyways I've been looking for a nice forum lately because some of the others I used to frequent are all but dead. I'll spend a lot of time in whatever section is discussing subs and enclosures, but I'll check out pretty much everything.

Edit, spelling

This one isnt far from dead but it's a nice place to shot the ****. It's not all uptight like another big forum. People here don't throw a fit if a thread goes off topic for a bit.
A lot of forums seem to have this issue. I think a lot of it comes from a bunch of people spreading a lot of second hand Information. I'm all about chill so I'm happy to hear this place is a little more relaxed. Another forum I used to frequent will lock a thread if mention of any other product or any comparisons are made, calling it a VS. thread. I swear, if you said "should I go with a 3" coil or a 2.5" they will be shutting that **** down!

Where in New Mexico are you located?.. are there any audio related events local to you?.. I live in Phx and I was having a hard time locating anything until a member here suggested FB... LOL!.. I feel stupid now... there are lots of things locally here in Phx...

NM has a fair amount of events, and a handful of extremely loud cars. I know theres a 170 out there, a couple of 160s and a ton of 155s. They tend to almost be exclusively burp oriented, but its a strong scene

Yeah, I've learned facebook has a lot going on for shows and such. I live in Portales, New Mexico and we are neighboring a city called Clovis, New Mexico. We kind of get clumped together. In Clovis there is a shop called Eastern Audio and it is owned by Nathan Munson who was a very prevalent contributor to the SPL world it seams. His son Christopher is now doing some big things when it comes to that. I don't know them well, I actually pretty much just met them. I've never bought stuff from a shop, and I am barely starting to get into competition. Nathan is the one with all the hook-ups about local shows. He actually sponsored one in Clovis recently called Draggin' Main and it was awesome. At Draggin' Main there were definitely some very loud set-ups. Joe Price was there with the crazy van that blows out windshields and maintains 165+ average on music. The Eastern Audio trailblazer with 10 w6s maintains a 160.9 on music with ease and burps quite a bit higher. There was Lenny and the red rocket with 6 SMDs. A dude from Vegas named Jeremy with 4 FI's on about 20K. Another dude with 3 NS2's on 3 18's in a non-wall in a little ford ranger. There was a lot more that I forget to mention.

There is another shop in Albuquerque called King Kong Customs that has a lot of loud vehicles and people with loud vehicles working there. That is where I got my first demo of a 160+ trailblazer. The dude says its the loudest trailblazer, Idk how it stacks up to Christopher's tho, I don't think it had been completed at the time. King Kong has a grip of 160 vehicles in and around the shop at all times.

There are a few shows here. I recommend the Draggin' Main Show in CLovis, I have a feeling it will be even bigger and better next year. There is a show in Hobbs, New Mexico, and Definitely some shows going on in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Those are the ones that I know of but I am sure there are more. And some of them might be closer to you. I would imagine the Las Cruces/El Paso area would have to have some legit stuff going on.

I think the scene is growing. At Draggin' Main I competed in the local 2k clamped class. I really didn't expect much from it so I just went up there with my daily box tuned to 32hz. What I didn't realize is that there were about 3 dudes who bought their boxes from Christopher Munson who happens to have records and ****. So yeah, I got smoked by a dude that did a 148 out of the trunk on 1700w clamped with a box Chris made and designed. I got second in my class, needless to say, with a 142 @ 25hz lol. I like the lows...

There was another dude there that did a 150 on 2k in an Eastern Audio box with 3 12's in his trailblazer. so yeah... next year I will have an SPL oriented box for sure.

This hobby is something else... LOL!.. I went searching for LOWS and got to 146.4 at 35 hz with 2 12's in a 30 hz tuned box... now I'm after that 150 with a burp box tuned to 47 hz using 2 12's... the SPL thing has bitten me once again... I have not broke 50 since 1998 when Audiocontrol was the only meter used... let me tell you that a 150 today is a lot harder to get to with that Termlab measuring it... LOL!...

Nice, I am right there with you. I can't help but think that if I had a proper SPL oriented box I would meter much higher. I dont know if I would have beat the guy that beat me, but it got me motivated at least! Im trying to get a pretty accurate meter of my own so I don't have to rely on other people to get on the meter and test. I feel like if I want to get anything good I am going to have to test a lot, and the only people with a meter around here own Eastern Audio and they aren't trying to have random people in there metering every other day lol. I was actually reading your burp box thread. there is a lot to read tho haha.
