Lights and radio shut off...allegedly

So after i installed a radio in my cousins 67 mustang everything was good and he drove it home super happy. I get a call about 30 min later that he was listening to the music kinda loud when suddenly the radio shut off and his turn signals/dash lights stoppedworking. He brings the mustang back over and everything works... No blown fuses nothing. Everything is at 100% working order.

Anybody have a clue what this could have been? Im hoping it was a complete random coinsidence and its a fault in his electrical system. Everything is good. Tapped into acc, ran 12v constant to battery and grounded on a bolt directly to samded metal.

what did you do with that orange/orange with white stripe wire? Could be touching something.

Had a buddy of mine install his h/u once and he didnt keep that wire from touching something and the same thing happened to him. It was grounding out touching something else

you said allegedly....does he smoke weed? Could have just been really high and this never happened:laugh:

This orange wire? Its not coming out of anything should i still tape the ends off though?

Tape every exposed wire..Thats common practice..just cutting the ends off and leaving them doesnt mean that wire/wires wont try to make contact being hot/still exposed.Id get the alt checked..prob not big enough to handle the draw?Battery?Or you have a hot wire trying to ground out somewhere?

that actually looks ok. But, if he claims it happens again, wouldnt hurt to tape it off. Is that coming from the radio? Or the internal harness? Either way, a lil tape wouldnt hurt

Ima tape everything off, if that doesnt work ima have to pull the ignition switch out and wire to that. Its a bit of a pain so i figured id be fine tapping into the acc. Hopefully it was just grounding out a bit.

The terminals are ok can be better but it started raining so ima have to pause on that for now. Apreciate the help guys

May or may not be related. Was installing home audio. Initially, hooked up using an RCA with audio and video connection (going from TV to the receiver), but didn't use the video connector of course, so it was dangling and touching the back of the plate where speaker wire attaches. Every time it touched, it would make this horrible noise and after a about a minute, it made a loud noise and completely shut off. Luckily, nothing was damaged and I realized what was happening. Got rid of the RCAs since then and went with optical.
