Let's talk Harley Davidson and how "American made" they are...

Well if i was to invest in a bike i would get a Harley because they hold thier value like a mother fvcker.
all except the vrods...those tend to go pretty cheap used.

Random thought...I wonder how many harley riders park in the garage beside an import car/truck at the end of the day...

Ok, my dad just mentioned how Harley Davidson is 100% American made. I laughed and quickly said that there is no way in hell it is. I tried to tell him that Harley is not going to buy parts that ARE made in American when they can buy parts for cheaper from oversea companies. But him being as hard headed as he is, thinks they are the greatest thing and only thing left "American made". I even mentioned to him how the Gold Wing, made by Honda, is considered to be "American made" even though it is made out of Japanese parts, just assembled in Ohio. So, does anyone have any sources that are legit that show where the parts Harley claims to be "American" are really from? I found some info on it, but its from a blog...
I know for sure that the brakes are Brembo, which is Italian...
Years ago when AMF owned them, the gauges and forks used to be made in Japan. Today I'm not so sure.

For the most part your dad is right. Major componensts like frames, all sheet metal, engine, drive train, wheels, and swingarms are all USA made.
