Let's talk alternators

I have a 2002 f150 with the 4.2 liter. My system is 2400 watts so I'm thinking about purchasing a 240 amp HO alt. Mechman has one for $350 and Singer has one for about 100 bucks more. Is the singer worth the extra cash? I like how the Mechman accepts the factory sized belt, but does anyone have any stats on The Mechman's output at idle?

Let's discuss...

Singer has a lifetime warranty. And I don't see why having to change belts would stop you from that. But then again I just ordered my 2nd high output alternator for JS ultimate alts so o have no first hand experience. But I hear mechman has bad customer service.

I have owned both singer and the s series mechman and I will pick singer over mechman any day. I can't speak for the elite mechman alts they are better quality I'm sure and should be about the same as the singer.

Is that what Mechman refers to as the "e series"?

The elite series is badged as elite series as far as I know. The s series was $400 for a 240a and the elite 270a was like 499 for my car. Don't follow mechman much they may have switched up their series.

Excessive amperage

DC power

Ohio gen

Are the only companies I'd spend my money with from dealing with all the alternator companies in the past. I've pretty much used them all or have friends that use them

Mechman- alternator failed

DC power- greatt alts prly most $$$ though

Singer- regulator issues and I've had one rectifier fail before

Excessive amperage- love them and no problems so far, life time warranty

Js alts- my buddy's on his trailblazer just failed

Ohio gen- talked with Tom at world finals and he knows his shlt! If I ever switch from excessive I'm going Ohio gen, Tom is the inventor of the external regulator/aka blue box, this guy knows what he's doing.

Tenny- broken right out the box, sent it back and got a new one, used it for a month and then sold it. Crap
