I bought a Kicker 750.1 from a guy local for about 150 bucks.

Had the box and all the stuff. It looked new and worked great ....for about a week

Well friday night the amp stops working and I was kida puzzled.

I check the fuses and the inline fuse was broke/blown.

The fuses on the amp were still intact.

Well I got a new fuse and turned on the radio/amp.

I got nothing out of the amp.

I didnt know what was going on so I went to go look and see if the power light was on the amp and the amp was letting all the white smoke out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif:furious://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif:mad://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I pretty much yanked the power wire from the amp and the smoke stopped.

SO im pretty sure the amp is gone.

Now I have to send it in for reapirs.

But the thing I dont understand is why didnt one of the fuses blow?

I had an 80amp inline fuse and the right fuses on the amp (2 40amp fuses)

both were ok and had power going to them

Why would the white smoke come out after the amp has cooled and a new fuse was put in and the new fuse didnt blow??

I just need an answer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Well the amp was made for 2 ohm and I had two 4 ohm subs wire in parallel

Yeah I know your not supposda rip out the wires but my car is almost brand new.

I didnt want any kind of problems

eh so anyone know why the smoke would come out and no fuses pop?

this was the first time the amp was on that day so it wasnt warm.

And like I said it was reciving a 2 ohm load.

Not with out knowing where those fuses are in the circuit. Maybe it was a power wire short just inside the amp on a sharp piece of something that had come loose. Then it would short but never get to the fuses. It might still play under those circumstances, though.

I am not saying that is it, I am just saying that if we do not know exactly how the amp fuses are wired or what happened in there it is not going to be likely that we can tell you what happened. Maybe this happened to someone else w/ this amp already, and they do know, but maybe you're the first.

Good luck!

I agree wouldnt this make a 1 ohm load to the amp assuming the subs are DVC? If so thats the problem. That amp is only stable to 2 ohms

im sorry, they are two 12" SINGLE four ohm subs.

They were not dual voice coils

I havnet tried to hook any other amp up to the power wire so i dont know if its the wire or what yet.

I will find out tonight or tomorow.

Thanks for the help so far

well i hooked up a small sony amp i bought for reasons like this

The sony amp power up and drives the subs fine

I had the amp on with music for about 10 min and no smoke

so the kicker amp was the problem.

now i gotta send it in =(
