Lessening the difference between the trunk and cab

I decided to screw around today and throw my sub box into the back seat of the car. The differences between being in the trunk and the back seat was quite atonishing. It doesn't surprise me too much but are there any tips/tricks to lessening the difference between the two locations? Im using a 95 Dodge Intrepid

How is that a horrible Idea. No different then having a box in the back of your SUV. Its not like I drove around with it like this. Im telling you theres a big sound difference from my trunk to inside the cab. Its as iff my back seat is blocking ALOT of the bass, more then what I really expected.

it usually is thats why you fold it down, it is in no way similar to the box being in the back of an suv...

duh, port the cabin (port/vent thru the rear deck) or if you have a fold down armrest with the plastic peices back there, cut it out and it will be louder inside the cabin

Well different cars do different things depending on how the car affects the sound waves. No theory sucks. I think you car sucks. I cannot fold the back seat down but I will look on termpro.. And I def can cut out the middle armrest backing....

then unbolt it, and yes that idea does **** unless you are going to build a half/full wall.

well if the woofers are closer to your ear, science tells me it will be louder...you have metal, foam, etc blocking it in a trunk, theory tells me it will hamper what you actually hear.......

Simply removing the material covering the 6x9 openings (with the 6x9's already removed, obviously) made a huge difference in my old car.

Took me all of about 5 minutes to do. And covered the gaping holes with 6x9 grilles so it didn't look totally hillbilly. Worked out nicely for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What about removing some of the insulation looking material covering the rear deck under the deck tray?

Well obviously, thats why I said I wasn't surprised but I was on how big of a difference there was.
