I have a sale listed on craigslist for a friend and I wanted to know what you all think aboutthis responce I just got:

I have just seen your ( Alpine Deck, 2 12"Pioneer Subs) for sale and it fits what i have been searching for.I will like you to give me the exact price of each and how many do u have for sale ?. i am currently not in your country,to be precise i'm in england on a business trip and i will handle shipment of it to My base in Gloucester I'ld like to know if you accept cashier checks /money order as a method of payment.Sorry if this gets to you but if i may ask,is this your personal property? cos' i dont want to involve myself with stolen properties for sale.what is the condition like? Please reply with your full name,contact address,phone number, fax and proof of ownership if any,so that i can commence payment immediately if it is still available. Please respond ASAP.

typical nigerian scam. Definitely not legit. They will either pay you with a counterfeit cashiers check or money order and ask you to wire the remaining balance as they will most likely send you one for 10x the amount you want or they will say they will pay by paypal and you will get an email that looks real but says paypal wont release the funds until you provide a tracking number. Paypal does not do escrow so once you ship you are screwed.

But he does specify cashier's checks and money orders, which are pretty much guaranteed payments.

yeah its a local selling thing and this guy hits me with shipping to the UK, I dont really believe it thats why i asked.

I Got Almost The Same Response But Mine Said He Was Disabled And Currrently Unemployed And Needed To Use Alertpay.com Went On The Website To Check It Out Before Hand And I Kept Telling Me It Wasnt A Website So I Looked It Up On Yahoo And It Showed A Few People Had Already Been Scammed Like That So Just A Heads Up If You Get Something Like That

they also setup paypal clone sites that look very real. Check the address bar and if it doesnt have paypal.com in the first part then its bs. They are also trying to do a similar scam as the paypal escrow thing with the USPS saying the postal money order wont be released until tracking info is received. I got one like that. It was from unitedstatespostalservice@post.com again a total scam. They are getting very good at it. i would scan one of the counterfeit MO I have received but I cant find them. I sold my AR-15 for 600 bucks and had one send me a 7,000 money order. Here is a good site for more info. May not have all types of scams listed but its a good place to start.

international, besides canada is generally too risky. These assholes have been going around stopping ebay auctions with "buy it now" or outbidding another ebay buyer at the last minute only to send you one of those **** scam emails. It has happened to my friend 3 different times. They all have 0 feedback and just opened the account or are using hijacked accounts or up their feedback because of buying 2.00 ebooks and shit.

no looks fake to me. one time a guy wanted to buy some hockey equipment so i was like sure... gave him my address, sends me a check for $5000 and is like oh, send the rest back to me... even though i'm in tailand. and one of my courier guys will come to pick up the stuff, but not the money." so we called the bank that the check came from and they said it was fake, so we notified FedEx. we gave the check to the police/FBI. and didn't hear anything after that.

basically what i'm trying to say is... don't do it.
