legal limit

There is no specific number, its just a matter of what they feel is to loud. Here where I live its 50 feet away, and I just got done paying 200+ dollars worth of them.

yea i live in a rich white town w/ fat cops (i mean cops that cant even run im serious) and they pull u over for n e thing and everything (i got pulled over and lectured for having my back license plates out, the bastard was telling me that he could suspend my lincese)

In Florida, it's 25 feet away from the vehicle... man, ANY system can be ehard from that far away. But I've never been pulled over for it before... but I usually turn it down or pause it when I see a Cop.

It depends on your location. Different cities have different rules for sound violations.

But really, out of respect for others you shouldn't be playing it loud in residential areas or busy roads to begin with....regardless of what the noise ordinance is.

A lady I work with's son got a noise ordinance ticket with his 100% stock stereo. And not a fancy stock stereo with a built in sub or anything....just factory 6x9's and stock front speakers. Apparently that cop was having a really bad day........

LOL!! Thats to funny, i live in california and im not sure what our level is. I think it might be 50 feet away though.

I have to agree with this. For the good of our hobby, people just need to respect others or they'll start tightening up the laws even more. Those 70 year old women have a lot more political pull than a 16 year old with a system.

But using a bit of common sense should prove fairly handy and keep you out of trouble. The local ordinace here (I think?) is if your windows are rolled completely up and your stereo can be heard 50 feet away from your vehicle it is too loud. I'm sure it varies from place to place in it's specifics.....what is legal/illegal here may not be the same as in your area.

Yep - like we say over and over and over and over and over (begin to see a pattern here?!?) to PLEASE BUMP RESPONSIBLY. It's not tought to tell when you're in an area that full-bore volume on "Late Night Tip" probably wouldn't be such a grand idea....such as rolling through your parent's neighborhood or sitting at a red light during peak hour traffic.
One feature that is unendingly helpful (to me anyway) on these late-model eXcelon head units is the feature that kills the subwoofer outputs quickly (withut affecting the rest of the system) with a single touch of a button. I call it the "Uh, oh....there's a cop behind me," feature.

'Tis never fun to be on the receiving end of a cop having a crap day and it ends up being your fault somehow..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
