LEDs off open channel

I have both Left and Right Rear speaker channels open, there is nothing on them:

Would it be possible to run a few LEDs off of these speaker channels? The power would be coming straight from the HU to the LEDs.

Or would this somehow damage the HU or not work?

It could work. There have been people who run lights off of sub amps. The light flashes when only when the amp sends a signal if I'm not mistaken

id get some led's and hook them up to the interior light wiring... thats just me tho cuz i like to seperate my system from eeeeevvveeerrryyyytttthhhhiiinnngggg... less FAIL's

Sounds like a bad idea. AC current, different voltages to produce different speaker movements, etc. It's be easy to get a sound interface for the LEDs that has a sound signal input, then use those opne lines for that.
