I was a little weary of buying things off the net...so I decided to buy 2 10" Type E subs at bestbuy....then after I discovered I could have had 1 Type X sub for the same price & could be putting out 1000 RMS instead of the 400 RMS I'll put out with the 2 Type Es...

What kinda amp would it take to fully harness the power of just 1 10" or 12" Type X sub? What about 2 of them?

Hifonics brutus is a reasonable priced amp, kicker has quite a bit of amps.

Subs do not "put out" power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif....they accept it from whatever amp is powering them. Whatever amp(s) you use will decide how much power you're "putting out" RMS - not the type of sub you decide to use.

I meant with the correct amp I could put out that RMS wattage. I should have looked around more on internet sites & took the chance & bought online, then I'd still have a fatter wallet, than buying at BestBuy's way overpriced products.

Well ive heard the Type-x is a power monster, so 1000rms MINIMUM but i would say like 1200-1400rms.

But you are correct in the scence that subs rating is power handleing...not acoustical power ouput.
