Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Decent amps? Rated power? Supposedly they're the old amps designed by Steve Mantz(sp?) and made by Zed Audio. Supposed to be really good. just looking for a bit more advice...

from everything I've seen the SL's are not the same quality as the Optidrives. I've seen many claims that the 800D does not put out rated power, but nothing official. I have an email into Zed and I'm hoping to get some feedback on the issue soon.

all Zed said is the Opti's use bipolar outputs and the SL's use mosfet.

Thanks N2. Well, hopefully its a decent amp as I just bought one based on some other advice I'd heard first. The one I got is a few years old, is an "Opti" model and is also made in america. Supposedly the older models had the good components in them.

It'll probably be a week or so before I get it..but I sure hope its decent. I only paid $120 for it...so its not like its the end of the world if it doesnt put out its 800 w @ 1 ohm like its supposed to....but I sure hope it does. Gonna use it to drive a pair of 10" JL Audio W6v2's.

The Opti's and OptiSL's are different lines, however Zed Audio designed and built them both. According to Steve the only major difference is Bipolar outupts for the Optis and mosfets for the OptiSL's. He said the SL's, like every Zed amp, are under-rated in power.

I always thought those 800D's would be a good amp at the ebay price. The more I learn about them the more it seems like they're just good amps, period.

However, there are some that claim Zed Audio has a troubled past when it comes to class D amps.

THis is pretty much what I had heard from a very knowledgable source on another forum. All in all as long as it holds out...it'll be a great amp for the money. Wish it had the new style power plugs on it..but thats a small deal.
