Lack of serial numbers

Should I be worried/upset about receiving an item (subwoofer) from a forum member with the serial number removed? It was shipped in the retail box and the serial number label has been removed from the box as well.

I did not think to ask about this prior to buying the sub but now I'm concerned. If I takeit to a JL autorized dealer for install will they refuse to install it?

It would be silly for them to refuse to install it. However when if you ever need warranty work done ususally the warranties are voided if the serial number is defaced.

most unauthorized resellers have to remove the serial number to cover there own butt

I doubt they will refuse to install it.

If anything happens though, even if its their fault...you're likely SOL.

Maybe the person bought it off ebay, I've heard that many ebay sellers remove the serial numbers.

geee... I can only think of one or two reasons.

I bet it was purchased through an employee accomodations order..CHEAP. then resold for 3x the price and they ripped the SN# off of it so they couldn't get caught.
