L7 ridges on surround?

I'm going to be an anti-nut hugger here, and say that's what you get for buying Kicker subs.

In all seriousness, I think it's just a manufacturing defect. Maybe low quality rubber.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Bottom 2 run on 1 amp, top 2 run on 1 amp, bottom 2 have the ridges, I've had them hooked up in a prefab ported box while the box for all 4 was being built so they had 3 weeks of play time, the other 2 only have 1 week

I think it would be too big of a coincidence that two of the woofers have the same uncommon defect. Unless both subs were purchased used or B/Old stock from a website at the same time.

Just throwing it out there. I have seen MANY blow Kicker's due to too large of an enclosure (I have 3 blown ones), never seen this problem before.

I would look into this. Amp being improperly grounded, short in the wire, or improper gain match could cause your subs to receive a clipped signal or bad power. With the amount of bass you have, I wouldn't be surprised if the bottom two sounded like garbage and you wouldn't even know it. Were your gains matched professionally or did you set them yourself? I would try disconnecting the top two and giving them a listen.

I've been a kicker fan all my life, I ran a single L5 in an Integra 8 or 9 years ago, 3 cvx 12's, and now 4 L7's, and never had a problem till now, I'm gonna take everyone advice now and not buy kicker anymore, not a full convert to underground as I'll probably do a pair of type x's or w7's. So are my subs f*kd and just a matter of time till the surround tears, or are they ok

Gains are set at +.5, its about 60-65%, i can turn the gain up a little more and volume increases but then it flattens out the rest of the way, no i didn't use an oscope, but i was pretty sure its not clipping as i could still turn it up some b4 volume ceases to increase

I don't have any eq or line driver so I'm only getting I think 1 or 2 volts from the preout on my alpine, I didn't hear the speakers distort when I set the gains
