L5 vs. L7

Yeah yeah another thread....

I know there have been some threads recently, in which even Polecat stated that the pre-2007 L5s and L7s were pretty similar besides basket type and RMS...

However, how much does that effect actual output?

Will there be a noticable difference in output between that of an L5 and an L7?

The way i understand it is that the l7 will only be louder if you have power levels between the rms of the l5 and the l7.

Eg.; if you have 750w rms from your amp, a 15" l5 would be louder than a 15" l7, or atleast the same.

The L7 only benefits over and above what the l5 can handle.

Cause i've seen polecat actually recommend the l5 over the l7 when people didn't have enough power on tap to utilize the extra power handling of the l7.

i agree.. both similiar woofers, and the L7s are, to me, only worth the extra coin if you have the power.
